September 15, 2022 By Haunt News & Press Releases
IdahoHauntedHouses.com recently sat down with Nikki And Frank Jorgenson of SRD's Haunt, to discuss what's new at SRD's Haunt for the 2022 Halloween Season!
What's new at SRD's Haunt for 2022? Do you have any new rides, attractions, or special features that Haunt Seekers should know about?
We will be keeping the levels and the indoor space. There will also be a game/waiting area indoors. New building and location.
What are you most excited about for the 2022 Halloween Season?
Our cast is amazing! Old and new friends ready to spook you back out of their house!
What differentiates SRD's Haunt from other local haunts in Idaho?
We are a group of family and friends that put this together every year with High School Drama kids and the students from SRD's Scare School. SRD is a service dog and therapy animal organization. A percentage of the profits benefit the animals and keep the therapy visits free. We also often bring therapy mini horses to give you some love after we get your heart racing!
How long has SRD's Haunt been in business? Can you tell us a bit more about SRD's Haunt's history?
This is our 7th year. We started our haunt in Pocatello in 2015. The owners participated in Haunted Houses as well as had a family-run haunt of their own growing up. SRD's Haunt Started at the farm and ran for 5 years before it was moved to a building to get out of the Idaho weather and due to growth of the crowds each year.
What's your favorite experience since opening SRD's Haunt?
We had a tiny toddler named Emma come through. She had ZERO fear at all. She got up in my Zombie's white eyes and wanted to get into the clown house with the clowns. She was amazing and I hope she joins us in many years when she is grown up a bit.
How long is a typical haunt experience at SRD's Haunt from start to finish?
It is typically a 5-30 minute wait to get in and then 10-15 minutes to get through.
Wait to get in can be up to 2 hours on a busy night.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how scary would you say SRD's Haunt is? Why?
Our Spook Alley option is a 2. No jump scares, lights up,
Our Level #2 is a 5. Some jump scares. No full scenes, etc.
Our Level #3 is a 8. Lots of jump scares and horror scenes. No touching or climbing/crawling.
Does SRD's Haunt's property have any real haunted history? Do you have a spooky encounter you'd like to share?
We have been told there was a POW camp there on-site during WWII. One guard tower still stands watch. There have been stories told over the years of soldiers being seen in 40's attire.
What inspired you to open up a haunted attraction? What's your favorite part of the business?
We wanted to have fun on the farm and let people come get a fright on Halloween night was how this adventure began. My favorite part is seeing the screaming terrified faces turn to smiles and laughs as they escape the terror we create.
How has new technology (i.e. animatronics, special props, etc) helped you to enhance SRD's Haunt?
We use very little animatronic/new technology. The new lighting has been fun to work with creating different kinds of fear.
Can SRD's Haunt accommodate large groups? How many people can experience SRD's Haunt together as a group?
We can take groups of 10 at a time.
Does SRD's Haunt offer any special deals, discounts, or coupons?
We have a group pass available online only.
We also do Facebook Giveaways and Ticket giveaways around town.
